Editorial Standards

Our Commitment

Acuity Media Network is an editorially independent publication covering the business of behavioral health. We hold ourselves to high standards of accuracy, fairness, and transparency so that the executives, investors, and providers who rely on our reporting can make informed decisions.

These standards apply to all content produced by Acuity Media Network’s editorial team. Sponsored content, advertising, and partner contributions are governed separately and are always clearly labeled.

Editorial Independence

Our newsroom operates independently from our business, advertising, and events teams. Advertisers and sponsors have no influence over what we cover, how we cover it, or when we publish. Editorial decisions — including story selection, sourcing, and publication timing — are made solely by our editorial staff.

When we publish sponsored content or partner-produced material, it is clearly labeled as such and visually distinguished from editorial content.

Accuracy & Fact-Checking

We are committed to getting the facts right. Our editorial process includes the following standards:

  • Source verification. Claims, data points, and quotes are verified against primary sources — including government filings, court records, regulatory documents, company disclosures, and direct interviews — before publication.

  • Multiple sources. For consequential reporting, we seek confirmation from multiple independent sources whenever possible.

  • Named attribution. We attribute information to named sources wherever possible. When a source requests anonymity, we grant it only when the information is newsworthy and cannot be obtained on the record. Anonymous sources are never used for opinion or speculation.

  • Document-based reporting. For coverage of M&A transactions, Medicaid policy changes, regulatory actions, and compliance matters, we rely on official documents, filings, and public records as primary evidence.

Corrections Policy

Errors undermine trust. When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently.

  • Material errors in facts, names, figures, or context are corrected as soon as they are identified. A correction notice is appended to the article stating what was changed and when.

  • Minor errors such as typos or formatting issues are fixed without a formal correction notice.

  • Clarifications are added when the original reporting was technically accurate but potentially misleading or incomplete.

Correction notices remain permanently attached to the article and are never removed.

To request a correction, contact our editorial team at editor@acuity.news.

Sourcing & Attribution

We believe readers deserve to know where information comes from. Our sourcing standards:

  • We identify sources by name, title, and organizational affiliation whenever possible.

  • When reporting on public companies, regulatory actions, or legal proceedings, we link to or reference the underlying documents.

  • We do not plagiarize. All content is original unless clearly attributed and linked to the original source.

  • When we build on reporting first published by another outlet, we credit that outlet by name and link to their work.

Conflicts of Interest

Our editorial staff does not accept gifts, travel, or compensation from companies or individuals they cover. If a potential conflict of interest arises — for example, if a reporter has a personal or financial relationship with a subject of coverage — the reporter is recused and the conflict is disclosed to editorial leadership.

Acuity Media Network is part of the eCap Network. We disclose this ownership on our About page. Our editorial team maintains full independence from eCap’s business activities, advisory work, and client relationships. eCap-affiliated companies receive the same editorial treatment as any other organization.

Advertising & Sponsored Content

We clearly distinguish between editorial content and paid content:

  • Sponsored articles are labeled “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” in the headline area and carry a distinct visual marker.

  • Advertising is visually separated from editorial content and labeled as such.

  • Advertisers do not receive preferential editorial coverage. Purchasing advertising does not guarantee, influence, or prevent news coverage.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

When AI tools are used in our editorial process — such as for research assistance, data analysis, or drafting — the final content is always reviewed, verified, and approved by a human editor. We do not publish AI-generated content without substantive human editorial oversight.

Right of Reply

When our reporting includes criticism of an individual or organization, we make a good-faith effort to contact them for comment before publication. We include their response or note that they declined to comment or did not respond.
